emelia DELAPORTE

Emy is a dual degree senior in professional and technical writing and multimedia journalism with double minors in natural resources recreation and biodiversity conservation. This is her fourth season marching with and blogging for the Marching Virginians! She’s a proud member of the MVPix. Outside of the band, she’s editor-in-chief of Silhouette Literary and Art Magazine, a section editor for the Collegiate Times's Lifestyles column, DJ Sweet Edie on WUVT-FM and more. Emy spends her free time romping the Appalachians on a series of adventures fondly known to her friends as jailbreakin’.

BENJAMIN GOZZI

Ben is currently studying at Virginia Tech majoring in Multimedia Journalism. Now in his second season with the Marching Virginians, Ben is beyond excited to keep forming relationships with his saxophone section family and to continue to cherish every moment he spends with the entire Spirit of Tech. He is beyond excited to continue to expand his communicative skills as a blogger for Marching with the Virginians. Outside of band, Ben loves to be physically active, game online with his friends, and spend time with his loved ones in Richmond, VA. Ben is extremely excited to grow as both a marcher and a blogger during the Marching Virginians’ illustrious 50th anniversary season!

 

SARAH BELL

Sarah is a sophomore at Virginia Tech studying National Security and Foreign Affairs. This is her second year as a blogger, and she is so excited to continue writing for the Marching Virginians. She has loved getting to interview special people within the band, blog about game days, and to write about this incredible organization. Sarah is also a rank captain for the awesome Horn section within the MVs! Sarah is originally from Roanoke, VA., but she is over the moon to be able to call Blacksburg her home. She is absolutely thrilled to be back for another year as part of the blog team!

 

CARTER BOHART

Carter is senior in political science with a focus on national security studies with triple minors in philosophy, politics, and economics, war and society, and public health. He is also a first-year graduate student in the masters of public health program. This is his third season marching with the Marching Virginians and first season blogging! He is the section leader of the MVPix. Outside of the band, he is a Youth Administrative Lead for the NCGC American Red Cross,  the President of the Red Cross Club at Virginia Tech, a Peer Mentor for the Virginia Tech Political Science Department, an EMT-IV in Baltimore County, Maryland, and more. Carter spends his free time playing multiple instruments, enjoying his playlists on a late-night drive, and going on sporadic adventures across the Southwest Virginia area.

 

Evan Bainer

Evan is currently a sophomore studying Communications at Virginia Tech. In his second season with the Marching Virginians, he is excited to not only contribute to the blog but also enjoy the season with his saxophone family. When he’s not on the field he enjoys both playing and watching sports (baseball and football in particular), listening to new music, and hanging out with friends both at Tech and back home in Fairfax, Virginia. He is also currently a beat writer for the Sons of Saturday, covering football and sports as a whole at Virginia Tech. Evan hopes to grow as a writer, marcher, and musician in his second season with the MVs!

 

Kaelyn mCintyre

Kaelyn is currently a double major in professional & technical writing and creative writing. When she's not hanging with the horns, she enjoys spending her time reading, playing unhealthy amounts of Stardew Valley, watching Glee, and baking. She also helps run Page by Page and CreativiTea here at Virginia Tech. She dedicates all of her writing to her dog back home in Brambleton, VA. She is super excited to write for the MVs this season!
